As a professional dog trainer, the biggest complaint I hear from pet parents always involves time. I've decided to offer one of the most important aspects of training to pet parents in need of a little extra help. The walk is an extremely important part of training, but is practiced the least. It will be very difficult to teach a dog the public manners we expect them to have as they grow without giving them a tour of their world.I always tell my students to never go faster than their dog. All dogs will learn over time, but the time it takes for a dog to learn varies. It should take at least 18 months to fully train a dog, but that, too, will vary. Abby is my dog. I adopted her when she was 11 months old. She was rescued from horrible conditions, and never had the chance to be a puppy. At 11 months of age, I started her training, but she didn't know what a ball was, she had no reaction to toys, and didn't have any public manners, so jumping was all she did. At 60 pounds, jumping was the last thing I wanted her to do. The first time I took Abby for a walk, I thought my arm was going to leave it's socket, and I was sore for days, but before I could really train Abby I had to first teach her what it was to be a dog. Although she was just 30 days away from being considered an adult, she was, in every sense of the word, a puppy. She needed to go through all the stages of puppy-hood she never had the chance to full-fill. Abby, at 11 months, was a young pup. It took Abby months to understand the game of fetch, to recognize a toy, to even get her to react to a ball! It has now been a year, and she's almost perfected her walk. It didn't take 6 weeks, it's taken 52! Abby needed the time to break old habits and replace them with new ones.I'm offering the art of the walk for all dogs. Each walk will include all training needed to help your dog graduate to the next level. Every dog has their own need, and every dog will learn at their own pace. I call it: abby's pace.

How it Works

The Service

For dogs, the nose is first. The ears and eyes follow in that order. To have all their senses utilized is best for a dog trying to get to know their world. The service is simple: I will excercise your dog for 60 minutes at a time, AND I will help you with any training homework you and your dog have been assigned. If you are not in a training class, I advise you join one, but if not, I will train your dog at their pace. Dogs are situational learners, so the necessity to train outside the home is high, and your patience must be great.

My Training clients: These are the clients who are currently enrolled in my group classes, or have graduated my group classes.

My Non Training clients: Everyone else.

The value of a dog is too high to price. Their quality of friendship, love, and devotion is one to be cherished. They give it freely and without question; if only we deserved it.

Training Options

Private Training:

This option is best for people who have a hectic schedule, or just need a little more one on one time.

One Session ~ $69.95

Four Sessions ~ $199.95

Six Sessions ~ $299.95

*Must provide a copy of current vaccinations!

FREE Seminars:

Seminars are a way for people to get answers to their questions. Dogs are not allowed, but your questions are! Seminars include: Potty Training, Mental Stimulation, & Adopting a dog.

Puppy, Basic & CGC Training:

Teach your companion without talking, or touching. My classes are based on NO confrontation, and positive reinforcement games.

Puppy classes are for ages 2-5 months, Basic classes are for ages 6 months & older & CGC for 12 months and older. (My oldest student was 14 human years!)

Class Options:

Level 1, 2, or CGC. Each program is a 6 week course.

Includes: Level 1, Level 2, CGC, three FREE workshops, & one FREE private session.

Why a group class?

Private training is definitely an option, but getting your new family member to pay attention to you while in public is the challenge, so train in public. Duh!

$10 Workshops:

Each workshop is an hour long and focuses on one specific behavior. They can be taken more than once, as a way to perfect a behavior, or as an introduction to a six week program. *Must provide a copy of current vaccinations!

What is CGC?

The American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen!

A.k.a....A.K.C. CGC! ha ha!

CGC is a wonderful class, however I do recommend enrolling in Levels 1 & 2 before enrolling CGC. Humans tend to have a tough time with their patience, so let's set everyone up for success!

Let's be real. Most of the training is for the you anyway.

All dogs must be at least 12 months to enroll and you must provide a copy of current vaccinations.

When deciding on the day and time of a class please remember: The day and time will remain the same for 6 consecutive weeks.When you find the class you'd must enroll in person. Bring a copy of current vaccinations with you and enroll at the register. All class topics/times are subject to change at my convenience.
